Introducing Head Coach Alex Anderson!
Alex began his competitive swimming career at age seven with the Cardinal Hill Cardinals in Vienna. He swam for the Cardinals until age 18 under Coach Scott Brown, who instilled in him a love for the Northern Virginia Swimming League. Alex went on to become a Varsity Swimmer for the University of Mary Washington from 2011 to 2015, serving as Team Captain during his final year (2014–2015). His college career was marked by extraordinary success, including earning the title of NCAA Division III National Champion and Record Holder in the 200 IM, 400 IM, and 200 Butterfly from 2012 to 2015. He was recognized as the NCAA Most Outstanding Swimmer Award for DIII recipient in 2014–2015 and received the UMW Outstanding Sports Team Leader Award in 2015. For his contributions, Alex will be inducted into the University of Mary Washington Athletics Hall of Fame on June 6, 2026.
Alex has extensive coaching experience, including time as Head Coach at Lifetime Centerville and a combined four years as an Assistant Coach with the Arlington Aquatics Club and Dowden Terrace Swim Club. From 2021 to 2023 at Dowden Terrace, he worked under coaches Evan Stiles and Kevin Nolan, gaining invaluable experience in managing practices and meets while upholding the spirit of the NVSL. Currently, Alex coaches year-round for the Arlington Aquatic Club and is excited to bring his passion and experience to the Arlington Forest Tigers as their Head Coach for the Summer 2026 NVSL season.
