This will be Coach Ben's second season with the Arlington Forest Tigers. Coach Ben grew up in Lancaster Pennsylvania. He began swimming with his summer swim league when he was seven and continued to swim until he finished college. He specialized in butterfly and sprint freestyle events. Ben began coaching during the summer after his senior year of high school and has been coaching ever since; this will be his eleventh summer coaching. He graduated with honors from York College of Pennsylvania with a degree in elementary education and works as a second grade teacher in Fairfax County Public Schools. Ben is also the head coach for the Langley High School swim team.
Julie returns to AFC as an Assistant Head Coach for her 7th year. She began swimming at the Warren, PA YMCA at the age of 10 and continued swimming for Warren Area High School as a teenager. At Slippery Rock University, she was an All Conference swimmer specializing in distance freestyle. After graduating from Slippery Rock, she continued her love for swimming with the DC and the Arlington Masters teams for the past 20+ years, including a strong finish in the Bay Bridge Swim in 1993. She is a USSA certified coach and has taught many of the Arlington Forest swimmers the four strokes as a coach for the Arlington Aquatic Club Mini Gators and Mega Gators teams. She has three children who are following in her swimming footsteps on the AFC team. Julie currently home schools her two of her children and proudly supports her son, Eric, who is a US Marine.
Kait returns to Arlington Forest for her 2nd year as an Assistant coach for the AFC swim team. She began swimming competitively at the age of 5 and has been swimming for AFC since she was 9 years old. In 8th grade she began swimming year around with York Swim Club. She was also the captain of Yorktown high school’s swim team and a 4 year varsity letter holder where she went to compete at states for 3 out of the 4 years. She now attends and swims on the varsity swim team at the University of Mary Washington where she just finished her sophomore year. She coached mini tigers from the age of 14-18 and have been giving private lessons since she was 14. Additionally, she coached year around for Lou Sharp Competition Swim Clinic for 2 years starting at the age of 16. Kait has always loved the sport of swimming for as long as she can remember and she loves teaching it even more.
Adam is a first year Assistant Coach and the Head Coach for our Mini Tigers. He swam for AFC for 12 years before graduating and going to study film at Stevenson University. Adam loves teaching swimming and summer swimming at AFC was a huge part of his childhood. He is also so glad he can give back to the team!
Kevin is a first year Assistant Coach after graduating last summer. He swam for AFC for 12 years starting at the age of 6. He currently attends the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachussetts where he continues to swim recreationally. Kevin always looked up to his swim coaches and he hopes he can make a similar positive impact as a coach.
