Tigers Swim Team
Welcome to the Arlington Forest Tigers Swim Team!
The AFC Tigers have been a proud member of the Northern Virginia Swim League (NVSL) since 1956. The NVSL is the largest summer swim league in the U.S., with over 17,000 swimmers across 109 teams competing in 17 divisions.
Our Mission:
Our team has two core goals:
- Individual Growth: We aim to help every swimmer learn and refine all four competitive strokes, fostering a lifelong love for swimming and fitness.
- Team Spirit: We strive to build a strong, supportive team where each swimmer contributes to the success of our team throughout the season.
These goals ensure every swimmer, regardless of ability, has a positive experience, learns valuable sportsmanship, and creates lasting summer memories.
Our Team:
With around 150 swimmers aged 5-18, we've maintained a strong competitive edge thanks to our fantastic AFC community, supportive families, and dedicated coaches. We're proud of our eleven Division Championships and Relay Carnival victories. More importantly, we're passionate about teaching children of all skill levels to love swimming. Whether you're a seasoned swimmer or new to the sport, we're delighted to welcome you.
Volunteer Commitment:
Our team thrives on parent involvement. To ensure smooth meets and a fun season, each family is required to earn at least 12 volunteer points. Different volunteer roles are assigned point values (1-5 points), with coordination and NVSL-trained positions earning more points due to their time commitment. (Families with Mini Tigers only will need to volunteer when Mini Tigers are swimming. Please refer to the Mini Tigers section for details).
New Swimmer Evaluations:
All new swimmers must be evaluated before joining the team and participating in practices. This helps us place swimmers in the right groups and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
We're looking forward to a fantastic season together.
